Christian Song: Our Human Spirit

Last year I attended one of the college-age gatherings with Christians on Campus. I learned a new Christian song called, Our Human Spirit. The lyrics were directly taken from several verses in the Holy Bible. So I just want to share it with you all. Please note that I obviously did not write this song.

Our human spirit is different than our soul.
"Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Thessalonians 5:23)
It is the innermost part of our being that is specifically created by God (Genesis 2:7), to contact God (John 4:24).

So here's the song lyrics.
Our Human Spirit
It is in our spirit that we were born again (John 3:6);
it is in our spirit that we were made alive (Ephesians 2:5; Romans 8:10);
it is in our spirit that God has come to dwell (Ephesians 2:22; 2 Timothy 4:22; Romans 8:16);
it is in our spirit we're joined unto the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:17);
and it's in our spirit that we contact and worship God (John 4:24).
Now we must walk and have our whole being according to our spirit -
serving in spirit (Romans 1:9),
praying in spirit (Ephesians 6:18),
being filled in spirit (Ephesians 5:18),
seeing God's revelation in spirit (Ephesians 1:17; 3:5; Revelation 1:10; 4:2; 17:3; 21:10)
having fellowship (Philippians 2:1),
and being built together (Ephesians 2:22).
The spirit is the key to the whole Christian life!

  1. Is this song online anywhere? Singing the word is one of the best ways to get it in you.

  2. Actually I've been searching for the tune of this song online but I can't find it. It could be that one of the Christians on Campus members wrote the song and the tune to the song.

    Have you heard this song before, Kyle?

    1. That's great. These lyrics are true gems. It's another way to memorize Bible verses, especially this one shows how important our human spirit is in our Christian life.

  4. I never heard this song before, but the lyrics are great! I love songs inspired from the Word - as Kyle was saying, the best is to sing the Word!

    Is there a recording of some kind or a link on hymnal.net?

    1. Presently, I don't think there's anything on this song as far as a recording or a link on an online hymnal source.

  5. What an awesome song! If it's not available online, someone from Christians on Campus should think about trying to record it. I love to memorize the Word through song. Nothing sticks in our brain better than information through song (I did a project on it once), believe me :)

    1. Yes, I definitely agree. Maybe I should ask someone from Christians on Campus to do a recording. Thanks for the suggestion, Megan.

  6. If you get a decent recording, you may want to share it with Hymnal.net. I know that they add new songs from time to time. Just a suggestion, Tom
